8 Great Ideas for Christmas Presents for Children’s Book Authors

1. A Giftcard for your Children’s Book “Research”

As you may already know, I buy a LOT of children’s books! Most of these children’s books are for my two boys, of course, but many are also for myself to:

  • immerse myself in children’s books to always improve my own writing
  • to see what’s out there
  • to see what is currently loved, adored, and read by little ones and their families
Staying up to date is important in any field, even when it comes to writing children’s books. And that’s why I love asking for a simple gift card from Amazon, because that allows me to purchase lots of lots of children’s books.

I also love to listen to children’s books on audio, whenever I don’t have time to actually sit down to read. I’ve listened to Mary Pope Osborn’s Tree House series so many times that I lost count!

For the holidays, I especially love this one right here, because it comes with a pretty gift box as well. That way, your loved ones have something to actually put under the Christmas tree. We can choose between different preset amounts, and can also decide on our own custom amount.

2. A Book for your Rhyming Needs

If you love to write in rhyme, ask for this book! I usually use Rhymezone.com when writing any of my rhyming books. But I love this Book of Rhymes right here, because it is set up a bit differently, and therefore has some extra ideas that I usually can’t find anywhere else.

What rhymes with Google, or Beyoncé, or better yet, what rhymes with ORANGE? With over 50,000 rhyming entries, this book of rhymes will help find the right rhyming word.

It’s great (and different) because It features slang, phrases, idioms, and pop-culture terms, not just dictionary words.

3. The ONE & ONLY Shirt for Children’s Book Authors

I don’t know about you, but I am so unbelievably proud of my children’s books. I love what I do, and I want to share it with the world. About two years ago, I asked Mike to gift me a Children’s Book T-shirt (something that would say “Children’s Book Author” or something similar). He tried to find something fun but eventually gave up, because none of the things online were specifically for children’s authors. So I decided to create something myself.

I hired an actual designer and had two different designs created:

  • I write Children’s Books
  • I’m a Children’s Book Author

You can find both designs here, and each comes in lots of different colors, different shirt / sweatshirt styles, as well as fun accessories like mugs and phone cases.

4. Your Very Own Children’s Book Guide

This list wouldn’t be complete if I wouldn’t share my book How to Self-Publish Your Children’s Book with you. I’m so very proud of it, because it has already helped thousands of aspiring authors share their beautiful children’s stories with the world.

(I also have a Christmas edition of my Children’s Book University program, if you would like to check it out: Gift-Beautifully. It comes with beautiful packaging as well. Last year, I wished for a drum course, so I could learn how to play drums online; so I love asking for online programs like this.)

5. For Us Visual Creatives

If you’re a visual creative like me, this is a great christmas present for children’s book authors. I use these Dry-Erase Sticky Notes to write down my illustration ideas for each scene. They are great, because I can rearrange them AND they are reusable!

Get a couple of different dry-erase markers in various colors, and you’re all set.

6. This is STILL my Favorite Tool

If you’ve heard me talk about my favorite tool for authors before, now might be the perfect time to add it to your own arsenal as well by asking for it for Christmas.

Publisher Rocket truly is amazing and such a game-changer! To see how exactly I use it for my own books, you can do so right here.

7. Share Your Creativity With Your Kids

I usually don’t recommend publishing with Lulu, but if it is a one-copy project like this, I think this Illustory Kit is a cute idea, especially if you’d like to create a fun little book-project with your little ones.

This little kit includes ready-to-use cover template pages, story and illustration template pages, guide book & instructions, a set of color markers and a postage-paid envelope and order form.

Again, don’t use this to write and publish your children’s book, but use it to have a little fun with your little ones.

8. ILLUSTRATIONS – One of the Most Creative Christmas Presents for Children’s Book Authors

This is possibly one of the best and most creative presents you could ask for as a children’s book author. If you’re ready to look for an illustrator for your children’s book, asking for a Freelancer gift certificate might be the perfect Christmas gift. And if you use this link right here, you get $20 worth of free credit on their site!

I’ve used Freelancer many times before and is also one of the sites I recommend within Children’s Book University.

ALWAYS GIVING BACK

This Children’s Book Author – Gift Guide wouldn’t be complete without at least a couple beautiful Christmas-related children’s books by some of my own readers, students, and clients. My boys own all four, and they are absolutely adorable. So if you’re looking for some sweet little stocking-stuffer-ideas while also supporting a fellow children’s book author, here are four wonderful options for you.

So, if you’re looking for some great ideas for yourself for Christmas, be sure to share this list of these 8 great Christmas presents for Children’s Book Authors with your loved ones. Here is to a beautiful upcoming winter season, my sweet friend!
